Hi, My name is Ardel’Paschal.  I am 10 years old.  When I turned eight, I had the experience of a lifetime! I went to Africa!  When you think of Africa, what kind of thoughts come to your mind?  Do you think of elephants, monkeys, and exotic animals just roaming around freely on the plains?  How about the people not having enough clothes on?  I thought,  I was going to see a lot of desert land, a lot of people just walking around with no cars anywhere.  I really did not know what to expect?  I was so happy when I arrived in Ghana, West Africa, because it was nothing like I expected.  I was actually shocked to see so much modernization on the continent.  People were dressed so exquisite, and unique.  There were cars, trucks, and buses! It was quite busy like a city street in New York City, except with more cars and less traffic lights.

My purpose in going on this trip, was to be with my parents.  They are part of an organization called AIM Mission. And they had the opportunity to go to Africa before.  I told my dad, I really wanted to go, and he worked it out for me to become a junior ambassador for AIM.  There was a lot of ground work that had to be done prior to us leaving.  We had to pack these huge black bags with clothes, shoes, school supplies, etc.. things that people and children could not afford to buy, because they just did not have the money.  We traveled for about ten hours by plane.  When we arrived, it was the next day.  We had to unload the bags, and put them on a bus to take the bags to a place in northern Ghana called Wechiau.  It felt like it took two days to get there.  The more we drove, the less street lamps you saw, and the less of real roads you felt.  It was pitch black, and less places to stop.  However, in the blackness, you could see the awesome constellations in the sky!  Shooting stars and everything!  When we reached the north, I went to work right away by helping little girls giving them school supplies, showing them some of my American games, like hand games, and they showed me theirs.  I gave out food, read stories, we had art, and music.  I felt really happy about going to a place that most people only dream about going to. Most of all I got to help kids who are less fortunate than me.

Since then I have gone back twice, this year will be my third trip!  Each time it gets better and better. I want to help girls like me, who have less than me.  I want them to see that they can do anything if they put their mind to it.

Now I want to know what you think about my story.       Write/blog back

Please blog (write) back and tell me!

My name is Zaiah. I am 12 years old now I am a young missionary and this is the story of my first amazing trip to Africa. I hope after reading this story you are convinced that helping others less fortunate than you is an amazing work.

We traveled for several hours on the plane, it was great. This was actually my first experience out of North America. When I first went to Africa In 2009, I was 10 years old. When I first went to Africa, right away I knew I wanted to go back. We traveled from Accra to Wechiau which is in the northern part of Ghana. That is were the real work came, working with the girls. We gave out hundreds of goods to the girls and to people less fortunate than me as an American. I like to draw, work with computers and cameras. In 2009 me and Ardel were the first young kids to attended the mission. We  worked with the younger girls that were to young to attend the conference. We did arts and crafts and we took them on little walks around the school. Later the younger girls ate with the older girls. It was fun and a lot of work in Africa we worked super hard as a team, together the whole A.I.M team.  We worked hard.  We like to give things out, put things in order and talk to many different people. At the conference, we always have at least five hundred girls to work with every year since I’ve been in the year of 2009.

Going to Africa is a great thing.  We get to meet different people even try different foods but most of all we get to help others less fortunate than us. I hope to inspire more kids to go and help or, to help others in there community’s less fortunate than themselves. Going to Africa was and is a great experience. Then, after all of our mission is done, it takes us like three hours just to bored the plane to New York City.  Afterwards we are back in our nice homes with food and water, to eat and wash; but, it leaves us remembering, always be thankful because there is always some one less fortunate than you.

THE GIRLS Conference

Hi my name is Maria. I am ten years old. I was nine when I first went to Africa.
The A.I.M Team does a girls conference every August. We feed, clothe and educate girls. These are some of the things the AIM team does.

We also give girls educational supplies. My friends Ardel, Zaiah,Lisa and me, taught a group of 50 young africans girls (ages ten and under). These are just a few things we have done. We also teach math, vocabulary, art and sometimes miusc. You can tell that the girls are very appreciative. So I think that the A.I.M team is doing a great work for the African girls.
