AIM is dedicated to the idea of seeing many infectious and zoonotic diseases reduced and eradicated worldwide. We are currently focusing our effort on Africa and in particular Ghana. For the past three years as the Health Director of AIM, I have been a part of AIM’s Health initiative to combat diseases such as Malaria, Hygiene-related Diseases, and Water Quality-related Diseases, and Malnutrition-related diseases.

Dr. Choma has been teaching in the field of science since 1997 as a graduate assistant at Wayne State College, Wayne, NE; He has held the position of Teaching Assistant, in the science field, at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD (1999-2001); as well as Veterinary Assistant from 2001 – 2002 at Havelock Animal Hospital, Lincoln, NE. He has been a Veterinarian research scholar and, interned at the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Center, Topeka, KS. He has worked extensively with all kinds of people and has travelled to Kenya and Ghana on several occasions.

Dr. Kimathi Choma is the Health Director of AIM Missions Inc., and the Branch Manager in Manhattan Kansas. He has worked with AIM Foundation in Africa since 2009 and has recently accepted the post of Health Director for AIM Mission Incorporated.

AIM FOUNDATION HAS WORKED DILIGENTLY IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF OPERATION:

- Health Education: AIM has made hundreds of presentations concerning basic health and disease prevention tactics (ie. presentations on handwashing, proper hygiene, infectious and zoonotic disease preventation).
- Handwashing: AIM has instituted handwashing before every meal during the Wechiau girls conference for the 600 girls that attend
- Medical Professionals: AIM has a team of doctors and nurses who have assisted (in person and/or via resource sending) with hands-on medical attention or sending supplies for deprived communities throughout impoverished regions. AIM has also worked with local clinics.
- HIV/AIDs and Hepititus Awareness: AIM has used preventative measures to launch an awareness campaign throughout various African communities with the help of local medical facilities.
- Malaria -Prevention: AIM has provided insecticide-treated mosquito nets in an effort to prevent the spread of this disease.
- Clean Drinking Water: AIM has helped to repair several wells and has installed one completed well, to supply clean water in an effort to prevent the spread of water-related diseases.
- Food Distribution Project: AIM has developed over 60 acres of agricultural land and distributed food to feed thousands of malnourished people. Aim has also purchased goats for communities that lack meat protein in their diet.

Health Insurance: AIM has provided Health Insurance for over 600 children. Millions of Children die every year from simple treatable diseases, in Ghana we have partnered with the health administration in the Upper West Region in order to provide health coverage for these 600 plus children and counting.

- Infectious diseases/Zoonoses: AIM is also concerned about the spread of diseases passed on through human and animal interaction. AIM has taken efforts to educate people how to prevent these the spread of these diseases.
